I was enjoying my double americano and chocolate croissant this morning at the Coffee Fix in the valley when I noticed the true words Love is all there is across the bust of a peaceful fellow to my left. I couldn't help but compliment him on his t-shirt and proceeded to introduce myself, as I normally would. "Thank you, it's from a Jazz festival in Switzerland," Steve said in a happy British accent. After some chit chat, I asked him if he played music and he nodded yes. Being as nosy as one can be on a Thursday morning in LA, I inquired about where I could here his music. He said softly, "yes I've been playing in a band called Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers." Rest assured, I felt silly not knowing, but I was so impressed by the humility of such a successful artist, that I will never forget the lesson Steve Ferrone taught me about love: it has no ego!
