Bono and Wyclef Honored Receive Ripple of Hope Award

ecorazzi - "Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and producer Wyclef Jean has been honored for his work to strengthen and inspire change in his native country of Haiti through his Yéle Haiti organization. The 37-year-old received the Ripple of Hope Award, along with rocker/activist Bono, at a ceremony thrown by The Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights.

“As champions of justice, Bono and Wyclef have brought the national spotlight to human rights violations, empowered local activists, and transformed the lives of millions of people living in poverty from Port-Au-Prince to Darfur,” said Kerry Kennedy, founder of the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights. “Their efforts evoke the spirit of my father and we are honored to recognize them.”

Those attending the ceremony included Harry Belafonte, Matthew Modine, Ana Ortiz, Aasif Mandvi, and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

Why is Bono Different?

It's ironic that Bono of U2 happens to be a superstar vocalist and musician. If you simply watch (without the volume) and pay attention to what he's been doing over the last twenty years, you'll begin to notice the even greater purpose beneath the rock albums, sold-out stadiums and the rest.

Bono is a loveangelist, world leader and exempler of living the love who you truly are. Look, it's not about the ridiculously impressive list of humanitarian work he's done or his TED and Person of the Year awards. It's more simple than that -look at his eyes, observe who he's spending his time with and notice how comfortable he seems to be. Bono is living within his life-stream or purpose, in other words, he's doing exactly what he was born to do and it's affecting the world now and forever.

So why is Bono different? He's not! He's merely surrendered beautifully to his heart and calling while focusing love into the world by helping others. We are born to realize this, and live it each moment with everything we've been given.
