I first discovered Ryan Farish on Pandora while working late into stormy Sausalito nights. Ever since I downloaded his 2004 album from the sky, I've been hooked on his uplifting rythems which seem to inspire many of my day to day activities like driving, typing, Kung Fu, and prayer-meditation.
His website ryanfarish.com mentions that the "Grammy nominated, 2008 GMA Dove Award Winning songwriter/producer/composer first launched his music career on the first generation mp3.com, where his music quickly took to the masses obtaining a whopping 1,800,000+ million downloads, of his trademark, “World-Pop” music. Los Angeles music Industry magazine, "Music Connection" refers to Ryan Farish as a "Download King." Ryan's national debut album, Beautiful (Dist by Capitol/EMI), quickly climbed to #10 on the Billboard Top New Age chart, and also ranked #1 on Music Choice's Soundscapes Digital Music channel. Ryan's sophomore record, From the Sky, smashed the New Age charts again, hitting 3 on the Billboard chart only five weeks after its release..."
Before I moved back to several years ago LA, I told myself that someday I would reach out to Ryan and perhaps get a chance to find out more about what truly inspires his openess and receptivity to the One Spirit in the form of creativity. Although we've been connecting through social media over the years, we have still yet to sit down and catch up over tea. As soon as we do, I'll be sure to keep you updated!
I get the feeling that many of his pieces were born through connction with our beloved City of Angels.
