Source: LAist - This Thursday night the Venice Art Crawl will have its inaugural tread through the community, showcasing the area's renowned artist community and spirit.
The idea for the event was borne partially from the collective frustration of the artists who have long-flocked to the area because of its welcome to creative folk:
The artistic force continues today and acts as an expression of the unique diversity of its host community. Recently, numerous local artists came to voice their frustration with the lack of exhibition spaces in Venice, especially on the Venice Boardwalk, a traditional area where artists have shown their art. Consequently, the goal of the Venice Art Crawl is to provide artists with an important avenue through which to showcase their work and to give art enthusiasts, and locals, an opportunity to discover the Venice art scene for themselves.
From 6-10 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month, starting this week and continuing on year-long, this free event will give people the chance to explore the community and encounter traditional and pop-up galleries. The majority of the Crawl will take place northward from North Venice Blvd along the Boardwalk, Speedway and Pacific ending at Westminster Avenue, and the center on Windward Avenue. A map is downloadable from their site to help plan your "crawl" adventure.
